MILWAUKEE CHAPTER |
The Milwaukee Chapter was established in May of 2002 as a Project 2019 Chapter. Its purpose is to reach out to Black Americans of all ages in order to help achieve the ultimate goals of Project 2019.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Milwaukee Chapter of Project 2019 is to promote academic excellence and encourage higher education through the active mentoring of those pursuing a college degree.
OBJECTIVES
* To become a reliable source of support mentoring students in need of help with academics, social development, and overall counseling concerning life issues, career planning, financial management, and time management.
* To become a source for parents, families and communities so that they can better support each other's academic aspirations.
* To become a source for the various institutions charged with teaching and caring for our children, especially day care centers, schools, community centers, afterschool programs, tutoring programs, mentoring programs, etc.
* To strongly encourage adult education by getting adults to continue their formal education.
* To develop SAT, ACT and other test taking skills as well as assisting in completing college applications and scholarship searches.
* To raise cultural and community self-awareness through various intellectual and social programs.
* To provide a place for organizing and coordinating various scholarship funds, education ministries, and other organizations who want to be involved in the Project 2019 program.
* To promote Project 2019 as a nationwide movement to reach educational parity with white America.
* Other objectives as the chapter membership decides.
GOAL
The overall goal of the Milwaukee chapter of Project 2019 is to increase the number of black Americans who enter and graduate from colleges and universities.
